Walking into the park with friends on a beautiful afternoon! (stairway entrance)

Volunteers from Friends of Mount Prospect Park and the Cultural Row Block Association enjoyed planting some flowers on Earth Day 2024.

Unfortunately, our donation of free professional soil aeration and re-seeding for bare patches of the lawn was rejected. And requests for basic lawn maintenance have been closed by the City, with a note that the conditions are corrected — when no work has been done. Residents are then blamed for the lawn conditions and told that’s a reason to pave. Not fair! Not right!

Pickup soccer game during the June 2024 heat wave! (Would be nicer if officials let us fix up the lawn. They rejected a professional donation for aerating and re-seeding. But it’s green or could-be-green, flexible, free park space for everyone!) (click video)

Neighbors began a song circle during the pandemic, and they still keep it up! Many have disabilities, and enjoy access to relatively calm Mount Prospect Park -- contrasted to the dynamic loop of Prospect Park, with its motorized vehicles and big bike pelotons. (click video)

In this circa 1959 photo John Murphy (still a neighbor of Mount Prospect Park) sits next to his mother and siblings in the park.

More history in Mount Prospect Park: George Bertles is memorialized with a stately tree, dedicated to him after his death in the park September 30, 1950.
